About the domain:

Domaine L. de Vallouit was a magnificent family estate in the northern Rhône Valley. One of the few to have vines in all the northern Rhône appellations, with the exception of Château Grillet, of course. In 2001, the estate's vines were taken over by Guigal, which incorporated them into some of its most prestigious cuvées.

About the Les Roziers cuvée:

This is a parcel cuvée from the Domaine de Vallouit. Do not be moved by its charming name. This very peppery Côte-Rôtie is particularly dense and tannic. It offers aromas of liquorice and spices and always some notes of black fruits! A bottle to be opened at least three hours before the tasting.

About the 1985 vintage in Côte-Rôtie:

An excellent vintage for all Rhône wines and particularly for the Northern Rhône in Côte-Rôtie and Hermitage. The Syrahs are concentrated, balanced, rich and very aromatic. As often the great vintages of Côte-Rôtie age very well.
