Côte-Rôtie "La Turque" 2008 - E Guigal
About the domain: Is it very useful to introduce you to the E.Guigal domain (E for Etienne but we know that you already knew that)? Established in Ampuis since 1946, this large family estate is currently managed in the best possible way by the third generation of winegrowers. The estate owns some of the most illustrious plots in the Rhône Valley, of which this one is a part.
About the cuvée: La Turque is a goldsmith's cuvée, a blend of powerful Syrah sweetened with a little Viognier. After careful sorting which will eliminate 25% of the harvest from only 1 HA, it benefits from aging for 40 months in new barrels. This plot held in monopoly by Guigal is the sunniest of the trio and whose vines are the youngest (25 years old on average), the grapes there voluntarily ripen a little more than on the other two cuvées. In the end, less than 4,500 bottles were produced in 2008, making it the rarest of the three cuvées.
About the 2008 vintage: You may be getting to know us. At WUAT we set our sights on wines with great aging potential. The 2008 vintage is the most closed of the 2000s vintages but has particularly interesting potential for development. Symbol of the ardor of youth, this cuvée should reach its peak between 2025 and 2030 (much later for lovers of old wines).
