Côte-Rôtie "La Turque" 1990 - E Guigal
About the estate: Is it very useful to introduce you to the E.Guigal domain (E for Etienne but we know that you already knew that)? Established in Ampuis since 1946, this large family estate is currently managed in the best possible way by the third generation of winegrowers. The estate owns some of the most illustrious plots in the Rhône Valley, of which this one is a part.
About the cuvée: La Turque is a goldsmith's cuvée, a blend of powerful Syrah sweetened with a little Viognier. After careful sorting which will eliminate 25% of the harvest from only 1 HA, it benefits from aging for 40 months in new barrels. This plot held in monopoly by Guigal is the sunniest of the trio and whose vines are the youngest (25 years old on average), the grapes there voluntarily ripen a little more than on the other two cuvées.
About the 1990 vintage:
Sporting an opaque purple color, La Turque 1990 exudes imposing aromas of jammy black cherry, blackcurrant, toasted and mineral. This sweet and generous wine, with incredible harmony, is truly unforgettable. 98 Points R. Parker 1996.
Note from WUAT: This bottle comes with many others from the cellar of a great Syrah lover. They have been beautifully preserved in a humid natural cellar, on metal cradles. Labels are often heavily disaggregated. We cleaned them very carefully and filmed them. We recommend not removing the films to avoid completely tearing off the labels. It is indeed a clearly identified Turkish woman from 1990. Be careful if you decide to remove the protective film you risk tearing off the rest of the vintage label.
