Côte-Rôtie "La Mouline" 1996 - E Guigal
About the domain: Is it very useful to introduce you to the E.Guigal domain (E for Etienne but we know that you already knew it)? Established in Ampuis since 1946, this great family estate is currently managed in the best possible way by the third generation of winegrowers. The estate owns some of the most illustrious plots in the Rhône Valley, of which this one is a part.
About the 1996 vintage: La Mouline is a master's vintage, a blend of powerful Syrah from the Côte Blonde softened with a little Viognier. La Mouline is one of the greatest successes on the Côte Rôtie for this vintage "complicated by a cool and humid summer. Parker gave it a score of 93 points and made the following tasting note:
"La Mouline 1996 is extraordinary, boasting a sumptuousness and richness that elevate it among the successes of the vintage. It is already fabulous, surprisingly fragrant for its young age."
Note from WUAT: This bottle comes with many others from the cellar of a great Syrah lover. They have been beautifully preserved in a humid natural cellar, on metal cradles. Labels are often heavily disaggregated. We cleaned them very carefully and filmed them. You can't imagine the difficulty added by the "metal mesh that surrounds this bottle. We recommend not removing the films to avoid completely tearing off the labels. It's up to you to see if you are a player.
