Côte-Rôtie 1998 - Domaine Jamet
Presentation of the Jamet estate
The first vintage from the Jamet estate dates from 1976. It is therefore in just a few decades that this estate has risen to the level of the best estates producing wonderful wines in the northern Côtes du Rhône. Today, Jean-Paul Jamet has succeeded his father at the head of the estate, alongside his wife Corinne and his son Loïc.
Made from a whole Syrah harvest, never destemmed and aged for 22 months in barrels in only 15% new wood, this cuvée is a blend of 20 plots, 15 of which are in a locality, Côte-Blonde is one of them.
The wines from this estate and particularly the Côtes-Rôties are made to age for decades. If you are a fan of very great Syrah, this opportunity will not come up frequently.
The 1998 vintage in Côte-Rôtie: Already Legendary
The Côtes-Rôtie suffered a significant frost reducing yields but leading to tremendous concentration for the few remaining clusters which enjoyed an absolutely perfect summer. The 1998 wines are as qualitative as those of the 1990 vintage; they are intense, structured and tannic. The finest vintages will age in the cellar for decades.
