Côte-Rôtie "Les Jumelles" 1979 - Paul Jaboulet Ainé
Presentation of the Jaboulet Ainé estate:
A major player in the Rhône valley for more than 200 years, the Jaboulet Ainé estate today has more than 100 hectares of vines mainly located in the northern appellations, in this lands the Syrah is the queen. The estate includes the famous Hermitage la Chapelle but also sublime Cornas and Côte-Rôtie. Since 2006, the Estate no longer belongs to the Jaboulet Family but to a Franco-Swiss group, also owner of vines in the Bordeaux, Burgundy and Valais vineyards.
Les Jumelles 1979 In Côte-Rôtie:
This cuvée "Les Jumelles" is the result of a blend of Syrah from the powerful Côte Brune and the invigorating Côte Blonde. The aging in barrels is "light" with around 20% new wood for 12 months, allowing the terroir to express itself more freely. Balanced, this vintage benefits, like many Syrahs from the region, from great aging potential, particularly in prime years.
And if we talk about a great year, 1979 is a great one, too often eclipsed in favor of the legendary 1978 vintage. The 1979 Syrahs are very "typical" and age wonderfully well.
Note from WUAT: This bottle comes with many others from the cellar of a great Syrah lover. They have been beautifully preserved in a humid natural cellar, on metal cradles. Labels are often heavily disaggregated. We cleaned them very carefully and filmed them. We recommend not removing the films to avoid completely tearing off the labels. It's up to you to see if you're a player.
