The lands of Château Beychevelle extend over 250 ha including 90 ha of vines.
The vineyard is made up of four typical Médoc grape varieties: 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. The vines are 30 years old on average.
Château Beychevelle works its vines in sustainable cultivation, and even has part of the vineyard in organic farming.
Its wines reflect the elegance and finesse of the terroirs of Saint-Julien. Châteaux Beychevelle comes from the best plots in the vineyard.
About the 2015 vintage: the very hot and dry summer of 2015 was very (almost too) beneficial for the Cabernet Sauvignon whose sugar level was very high. To avoid producing too rich a wine, Beychevelle increased the proportion of Merlot, which here represents 47% of the blend compared to 42% for the Cabernet Sauvignon. The result is a fruity and generous wine comparable to the excellent 2005 vintage.
