La Grande Dame is the exceptional cuvée from Veuve Clicquot.
This cuvée is focused on minerality, purity and complexity. It comes from a blend of the 8 great historical terroirs of the house: Verzenay, Verzy, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Aÿ for pinot noir and Mesnil sur Oger, Oger and Avize for chardonnay.
However, each vintage does not always contain the 8 crus, but sometimes 5 or 6, it all depends on the year.
The time spent in the cellar is a minimum of 7 years before marketing.
This prestige cuvée was created in 1972 to pay tribute to Barbe-Cécile Clicquot-Ponsardin. The first vintage is 1962.
This cuvée is confidential since it is only produced at 350,000 bottles.
