The Pichon Baron domain covers 73 ha of excellent quality gravelly soils which nourish in a balanced way the different varieties of vine stocks whose average age is 35 years.
A selection of the oldest vines is dedicated to the production of Pichon Baron, the great wine of the house, whose number of bottles is limited.
We have frequently tasted the Pichon Baron and Comtesse. Usually the Countess is our clients' favorite. But we had some very nice surprises with Baron, especially on closed vintages like 86 or 88.
We have tasted this 1985 on several occasions it is a superb wine which will take about an hour after opening the bottle to wake up.
