1er Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac, Château Lafite-Rothschild is often considered the most popular of the 5 premier grands crus.
About the 2008 vintage: A very classic vintage, particularly suited to great wines for laying down. And that's good, this is a Lafite, possibly the greatest red for laying down in the Medoc. After a very dry month of June followed by a rainy summer until mid-September, the 2008 vintage was not particularly set to perform miracles. But the superb weather from mid-September until the end of the harvest allowed the best Châteaux to produce well-balanced wines with a very straightforward and classic style.
Tasting advice: Lafites almost always ask to be opened at least 12 hours before tasting. This vintage is no exception. You can also decant it at least 4 hours before tasting.
