Carruades de Lafite 1995 - Pauillac
Label: Slightly torn or stain
Overall condition: Excellent
About the estate: Madame Darmailhacq, owner of another large estate in Pauillac, sold her plot of Carruades du Pouyalet to Château Lafite in 1844. Other plots adjoining Chateau Lafite and located on the Carruades plateau are acquired at the same time. No need to introduce you to Château Lafite Rothschild, 1er grand cru Classé from 1855 and, even today, the most popular Pauillac wine.
This Carruades cuvée is the only other wine from Château Lafite. It is produced on the Plateau des Carruades with the same rigor as the great wine. The slightly larger proportion of Merlot makes it more accessible. Long aging of 16 to 20 months in 80% barrels of which only 10% new wood.
About the vintage: 1995 is an excellent vintage in Pauillac and on the right bank. Wines with a high proportion of Merlot are particularly successful.
