About the 1985 vintage: A very classic vintage, particularly suited to great wines for laying down. And that's good, this is a Lafite, possibly the greatest red for laying down in the Medoc. The 1985 vintage is pretty similar to the vintage 1982. The harvest is healthy, the ripe grapes with thick skins and the tannins are there. 1985 will even be a little less "rustic" than 1982.

Tasting advice: Lafites almost always ask to be opened at least 12 hours before tasting. This vintage is no exception. You can also decant it at least 4 hours before tasting.
