Champagne Cuvée Louise 1988 - Pommery Giftbox
Like all the great champagne houses. And we could even say like all champagne producers. The Pommery house offers a great cuvée which benefits from all the care and know-how of the house:
- The grapes come from the best terroirs classified as Grands Crus: Avize, Aÿ and Cramant.
- The vinification is gentle and the aging in the cellar is prolonged.
It's hard to find out more because Pommery doesn't provide a lot of information, which is quit sad.
This cuvée is obviously dedicated to Louise Pommery, who, like many great ladies of the time, was at the origin of the development of the brand, the creation of the castle in Reims and the chalk hollowed out below.
This cuvée offers a rather "vinous" champagne with an extremely fine bubble. The aromas are based on yellow fruits (pear, plum and peach) and white flowers.
About the 1988 vintage: Initially perceived as a good vintage, it is now considered by lovers of old champagnes as the best vintage of the 1980s, offering similar qualities to 1979 or 2002.
