This vintage Champagne, from an exceptional harvest year, was composed and aged using musts from the first growths of our vineyards. Having slowly matured in our Gallo-Roman chalk quarries in Reims, it has the personal style of our house and the inimitable taste of perfection. The predominantly floral, delicate aromas of Chardonnay blend with the fruity and persistent structure of Pinot Noir. Store this bottle in the dark at a cool, constant temperature.
Wuat's opinion:
Beyond the image of the orange brand, this vintage 1988 vintage from Veuve Clicquot is extraordinary! This "vintage reserve" version is the original version and not the "recently disgorged" which bears the name "rare vintage". The Veuve Clicquot house that we contacted to obtain information about these vintages was not able to provide us with information.
We tasted this “vintage reserve” version in 2020 and it was one of our best tasting memories. These bottles are among those that we remember for a long time. We remember when we drank it and with whom. In short, you are enjoying a moment, not a champagne.
We also strongly recommend that lovers of champagnes and old vintages taste the vintage vintages of many great houses (Mumm, Moet, Besserat, De Venoge etc.) before the strong demand makes them unaffordable.
These old bottles, if aged in good conditions, reveal very different and much more attractive charms than recently disgorged vintages. But this is just our humble opinion.
