CHATEAU MONTROSE 1974
This cuvée is the result of successive and rigorous selections carried out at each stage of production, in the vineyard as well as in the cellar, this great cabernet sauvignon wine is typical of the Saint-Estèphe appellation: structured, tannic, but with all the finesse and luster. elegance of a Grand Cru Classé. As it ages, it develops a delicate and complex bouquet.
Its aging capacity is exceptional. Aged for 18 months in 60% new barrels, this great wine represents an average of 55% of the château's total production.
Grape variety from the vineyard: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon / 25% Merlot / 10% Cabernet Franc
1974 could have turned out to be a very great vintage, but as is often the case with "4" vintages, the rain appeared in September, making the harvests difficult between September 21 and October 10.
Montrose often produces very structured wines with a long aging potential. This vintage 1974 is aimed at an informed public, but its excellent condition of conservation will probably make it a very nice surprise.
