Cuvée du Vatican 1978 Châteauneuf-du-Pape - Diffonty et Fils
Château Sixtine, the new name of Domaine Diffonty & Fils, is located between Orange and Avignon, in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and covers 15 hectares.
5 grape varieties are dominant: for the reds, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, for the Roussanne and Clairette whites.
The wine estate has existed since 1924, the year it was created by Félicien Henri Désiré Diffonty, his son helped him develop it while participating in the founding of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape union.
The brand "Cuvée du Vatican" was created by Félicien, his grandson, it is a cuvée blessed by Pope John XXII in 1958.
A cuvée perfectly suited to aging, especially since 1978 was a very great year for Châteauneuf!
