Châteauneuf-du-Pape “Vieilles Vignes” 2000 - Tardieu-Laurent
Presentation of the Tardieu - Laurent house
The Tardieu - Laurent house was born in 1996 from the cooperation between Michel Tardieu, lover of Rhône wines, and Dominique Laurent, a quality merchant producing great Burgundy wines. The Laurent-Tardieu house today offers a wide range of the best wines from the entire Rhône valley in white and red and some wines from the south of France, notably Bandol.
Presentation of the "old vine" cuvée
Cuvée resulting from a blend giving pride of place to the most beautiful and ancient vines (40 years and over) of Grenache which make up 90% of the blend, the remaining 10% being composed of the many other grape varieties of the Châteauneuf-du appellation -Pape (syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault etc)
Tasting notes:
Bottle tasted in August 2022. An extremely pleasant wine, with sweet notes of figs, blackberry jam and garrigue. We were very pleasantly surprised on the palate by the concentration of this 2000 vintage, although it is renowned for its low concentration in Southern Rhône wines.
A wine to taste on its own or why not for "tea time" with a walnut or red fruit tart for example.
