Châteauneuf-du-Pape "Cuvée Spéciale" 2001 - Tardieu-Laurent
Presentation of the Tardieu - Laurent house
The Tardieu - Laurent house was born in 1996 from the cooperation between Michel Tardieu, lover of Rhône wines, and Dominique Laurent, a quality merchant producing great Burgundy wines. The Laurent-Tardieu house today offers a wide range of the best wines from the entire Rhône valley in white and red and some wines from the south of France, notably Bandol.
Presentation of the “special vintage” 2001
A 100% Grenache noir cuvée not destemmed (whole harvest), suffice to say that the concentration is incredible. 80-year-old vines from the famous La Crau sector, a very nice Châteauneuf with a classic style.
Tasting Notes: 95 Parker Points
It reveals substantial concentration and a formidable assortment of flavors including ripe figs, creme de cassis, chocolate, melted licorice, espresso and earth. Full-bodied, beautifully concentrated and pure, with significant reserves of potency, it has the potential to become magical, but patience will be a virtue given its firmness. It's hard to believe that this wine contains almost 16% natural alcohol, but this component is completely masked by the concentration level. Maturity expected between 2020 and 2023. R.Parker Feb 2004.
