Trotanoy 1999 - Pomerol
Do you know where the name Trotanoy comes from? In Old French, "trop anoi" or "trop ennuie" signifies the weariness of working the land.
The area of just over 7 hectares, is located on one of the best exposed parts of the famous Pomerol plateau.
The Jean-Pierre Moueix establishments (Latour, Lagrange, Belair-Monange, Dominus, etc.) acquired it in 1953.
The mix of the soils gives the wine power and depth as well as great complexity.
Château Trotanoy is one of Pomerol's most sought-after wines and produces wines suitable for decades of aging!
1999 was an average year in Bordeaux, but Trotanoy's know-how allowed him to obtain between 86 and 92 points. It remain a very great Pomerol to taste at least once.
Tasting notes by René Gabriel from January 2022:
Chateau Trotanoy 1999, Pomerol:
Colour: Medium-dark garnet, beautifully matured with transparent edge.
Nose: Open bouquet, beautiful chocolate notes, finely expansive, delicate plum sweetness.
Mouth: Very present and pleasant on the palate, although less fleshy than the 1998 vintage. It has passed its peak but remains very pleasant in the middle of the mouth. The finish is long and pleasant.
Was well received by the public! 17/20
