Despite having a second place in the 1855 ranking, Château Rauzan-Gassies is far from being the most tasted of Margaux. It must be said that with "only" 120,000 bottles per year, it is far from being one of the largest chateaux in terms of production volume. However, it shows great consistency and a style very representative of the Margaux appellation and, in our opinion, deserves a little more recognition.
The estate practices a one-year aging in 50% new wood. Young, the wine is quite powerful but balanced and will require a few years of aging to express itself perfectly.
This 1997 vintage is a great success the tannins are completely melted, it reveals floral aromas of violet and fruity aromas of blackberries and blackcurrant.
Excellent value for money to enjoy after a few minutes of decanting in tall glasses.
