Vina Almaviva 2014 - Puente Alto - Chile
Presentation of the domain:
Almaviva is a Chilean wine created in 1997 in Puento Alto. It is the result of the collaboration between La Maisons Rothschild and Concha Y Toro. The first vintage of this high-end wine was born in 1998.
France brings its know-how and its grape varieties, Chile its terroir and its climatic particularities.
Almaviva wines are essentially composed of Bordeaux and Spanish grape varieties. We thus find Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot aged in French oak barrels.
Almaviva wines are powerful, rich and generally have immense aging potential.
About the 2014 vintage:
It is made from a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Carmenère, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Aged in new French Oak barrels for 18 months.
Tasting Notes
The 2014 vintage presents a dark, deep and opaque ruby red color. The nose reveals a generous, layered and powerful wine bouquet of blueberry, blackberry and blackcurrant, associated with notes of cedar and spices, fine notes of vanilla, nuts, licorice and dark chocolate. Dense and full-bodied, this wine fills the mouth with round, ripe and refined tannins, leaving a general impression of balance, finesse and persistence. Coming from a superb vintage, this wine offers a wonderful combination of elegance and power.
