HAUT-BAILLY 1995 - PESSAC-LEOGNAN

The Château has evolved a lot over the last few decades. It is now in organic farming, the grape varieties of the vineyard have changed to be more adapted to the climatic conditions. Do not hesitate to visit the official website of the Château. It appears particularly complete and modern, not to say futuristic.

About the 1995 vintage for Graves: Wines for aging with good value for money and pleasure

For Bordeaux, the 1995 vintage is widely recognized as being an excellent year for both banks.

The winter and spring were mild, although the spring rains were crucial in rebalancing the water table and flowering proceeded without interruption. The summer was so hot and dry that it broke records. The harvest began at the end of September in dry and sunny conditions and produced an abundant and healthy harvest.

The majority of wines were rich and structured with intensely concentrated fruit and high tannins. Graves and Médoc, particularly St-Julien and Pauillac du Médoc, all produced excellent wines, but the lack of elegance in many wines prevented the vintage from being truly great.

Tasting notes from R. Parker

This deep ruby wine, with a classic nose of smoke, cherry, blackcurrant and redcurrant, is a pure marvel. Medium-bodied, with a sweet, rich and well-evolved fruitiness, this wine is truly delicate and elegant (neither lean nor diluted), and unfolds a finish that is sumptuous, persistent, supple and velvety. 90 Points (November 1997)

Exceptional provenance: These bottles come from a cellar of a great Swiss enthusiast and collector. We have acquired the complete collection containing more than 200 bottles of mainly French and Italian wines. The bottles were all preserved following their purchase en primeur or shortly after their marketing on site, in a natural cellar buried under a 16th century convent. A damp cellar, which is why some labels are very worn. The levels are generally excellent or perfect and the most "fragile" bottles demonstrate storage in total darkness for more than 30 years!
