Chateau Mouton Rothschild 1988 - Pauillac
Presentation of the domain:
Château Mouton Rothschild is a wine estate located in the region of Pauillac, in Gironde. It was founded in the 18th century and is today considered one of the most prestigious estates in Bordeaux. The estate extends over an area of more than 90 hectares and is classified Premier Cru Classé in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855. Each year since 1945, the label has been illustrated by a famous artist (Miro, Picasso or even Chagall for example)
Presentation of the cuvée:
Mouton Rothschild is the main cuvée of the estate, it is a dry red wine produced from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot grapes. It is known for its elegance and aromatic complexity but also for its irregularity and its ability to be the best when the vintage is a little weak. No worries for this 1988 which is a marvel.
Presentation of Mouton Rothschild 1988:
The 1988 vintage is considered a great vintage for Château Mouton Rothschild, due to very "special" climatic conditions which allowed optimal ripening of the grapes. This wine can be drunk now or kept in the cellar for several more years. Artist Keith Haring was in charge of illustrating this vintage.
