Mazis-Chambertin Grand-Cru 1986 - Domaine Pierre Gelin
About the domain:
The Pierre Gelin estate has been established in Fixin since 1925. Today, Pierre Gelin's Grandson operates the estate using modern methods that are extremely respectful of the environment.
The 13-hectare estate has vines in the communes of Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin.
About the cuvée:
This Mazis-Chambertin grand cru cuvée no longer seems to be produced by the estate. It is possible that over the years the estate parted with certain plots to acquire others. Today the Gelin estate has "only" one parcel of Chambertin "Clos de Bèze" in the grand cru appellation.
The Mazis-Chambertin appellation has only 8.65 hectares for a total annual production of less than 50,000 bottles. Learn more thanks to the technical sheets available in the attached documents tab.
About the 1986 vintage:
If this was the case for the Bordeaux region, the 1986 vintage is not the most "flamboyant of the 1980s" in Burgundy. It is therefore preferable to orient oneself towards the most beautiful terroirs of the 1er crus and grands crus to have nice surprises.
