Chambolle-Musigny 1986 - Guy Coquard
Level: Very good
Color: Perfect
Label: Stained and Torn
Domaine Guy Coquard, located in Morey-Saint-Denis, produces very fine wines from the most prestigious appellations of the Côte de Nuits (Clos Vougeot, Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin etc.)
The exploitation of the domain under the name Guy Coquard ended for lack of buyer within the family in 2004. Since then, the vineyards of the domain are exploited by the excellent Arlaud domain.
Wuat's opinion: We tasted a generic 1994 Burgundy from the Coquard estate because we did not know the style of this producer. We were pleasantly surprised by its behavior on a weak "vintage".
It's a safe bet that this "Chambolle" (it always feels a little pleasant to say "Chambolle-Musigny", probably a professional distortion) from 1986 is much superior in terms of quality. A very nice potential surprise then.
