This Morey-St-Denis "les Blanchards" 1er cru refers to the color of the very calcareous, poor and stony soil, leaving a whitish powder under the shoes. This reference to the structure or the color of the earth is found in many names of climates, like the climat "les amoureuses" in Chambolle-Musigny which stick to the boots.
This climate is located in a narrow band in the heart of Morey-St-Denis.
