Gevrey-Chambertin 1998 - Henri Rebourseau
Level: Perfect
Label: Perfect
General condition: Perfect
The Gevrey-Chambertins are above all wines to keep. This appellation is often considered to be the one producing the most powerful wines in Burgundy. Which is, in our opinion, fair enough.
The 1998 vintage is generally good in Burgundy and in particular in Côte de Nuits. But we will have to pay special attention to the quality of the producer because there were also big hiccups. With Rebourseau, you can rest easy.
Have you ever tasted Gevrey that is less than 15 years old? Besides the fact that it is a crime to drink them so young, it is also a real shame because they do not yet develop the bouquet of liquorice, leather, fur and undergrowth which characterizes them in their maturity.
If you wish to discover or deepen your knowledge of Burgundy wines and particularly the influence of vintages, it is probably with the wines of Gevrey that you will have to engage.
