Clos Vougeot 2006 - Vincent Girardin Grand Cru

There is not a "Clos de Vougeot" but a multitude of "Clos de Vougeot". Unlike many other great wines such as Clos de Tart or Clos des Lambrays for which the owners have a monopoly or are a very few and can therefore give a style to the wines. Clos Vougeot is owned by a multitude of winegrowers, each with their own style.

If we add to this the diversity of the terroir within this large enclosure of almost 50 HA, with high, low, sloping or flat parts, a diversity of soils and subsoil and whose vines are more or less young, it becomes very difficult to get it.

Luckily we're here to help you, at least a little bit. In general, Burgundy wines are the result of the meeting between three elements: The sky (understand the quality of the vintage), the Earth (understand soil and subsoil) and Man (understand the work of the winegrower) . Pinot noir is the grape variety that best reproduces these different variables and this is why Burgundy fascinates us so much and is one of the most difficult terroirs to understand and taste (with Champagne, Sauternes and Piedmont in our opinion).

Vincent Girardin's wines are almost easy to understand, the vinification is done with modern tools (temperature-controlled vats, optical sorter for the grains, etc.) but classic techniques (indigenous yeasts, no fining or filtration, etc.). You don't understand the technique? It does not matter.

Simply put, this Grand Cru is welcoming, round, smooth with aromas of black cherries, blackberries and musk. A wine that will appeal to all lovers of Pinot, both connoisseurs and discoverers. Because, after all, the most important thing for a wine is that it brings people together, right?
