Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 1990 - Pauillac
Located in Pauillac, Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande has 85ha. It is classified second grand cru 1855. 11 ha are located in the town of Saint-Julien which gives it exceptional aromatic particularities for a Pauillac.
The vines are 35 years old on average. The Champagne house Louis Roederer has been the owner since 2007.
Current grape variety distribution: 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot.
Tasting notes: No need to lie, where the 1990 vintage is a great success for the vast majority of Bordeaux estates, the Countess was a little missed on this one. The wine is light and flowing, not really worthy of a 1990 or a Pauillac second cru. Given the number of successesful vintages before and after this one we will gladly forgive this little missed which still deserves to be tasted once "for science".
